Ways to connect
Connect your AI assistant
Ask your AI assistant about your own work on the platform: which roles are open, how a scheme is doing against its commitments, what changed this week. It signs in as you and sees only what you can already see. Live
Before you start
- An AI assistant that supports custom connectors over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), using OAuth sign-in. Most current assistants do, sometimes only on business plans.
- An organisation account with us: employer, recruiter, training provider, developer, council or delivery partner. Resident and supplier accounts cannot connect an assistant.
Connect it
- In your assistant's settings, find connectors (sometimes called integrations or tools) and choose to add a custom one.
- Paste the connector address:
https://opportunityplatform.co.uk/api/mcp- Your assistant sends you to opportunityplatform.co.uk. Sign in if you are not already.
- Read what the assistant is asking for, and approve it.
- Back in your assistant, ask a question, for example "Which of my roles close this month?"
What it can do
| Ask about | Notes |
|---|---|
| Jobs and opportunities | Search live roles and read the detail of one. |
| Your schemes | List the schemes you can see and read one. |
| Section 106 commitments | Developer and council accounts: obligations, targets and progress for your schemes, and a portfolio summary. |
| Who you are signed in as | Your account and the access it carries, so you can check what the assistant can see. |
| Save a role as a draft | Employer, recruiter and training provider accounts only. The role is saved as a draft; a person must review it and set it live in the dashboard. |

Everything goes through the same access rules as your dashboard. The assistant never sees a resident's personal details, and it cannot publish, delete or change anything live.
Access and security
- Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Your password is never given to the assistant.
- See and remove connected assistants at any time under Settings, Connected AI. Removing one stops its access straight away.
- Calls are limited to 60 a minute per connection, which is plenty for a conversation.
- What the assistant does with answers on its side is governed by your agreement with its provider, not by us.
Questions and troubleshooting
The sign-in page says my account cannot connect.
Only organisation accounts can connect an assistant. If you work for an employer or a council but signed up as a resident, ask us to move your account to the right type.
The assistant says it cannot see a scheme I work on.
It sees exactly what your account sees. Check the scheme appears in your dashboard; if not, ask the scheme owner or us for access.
Can I build my own tool on this?
The connector is meant for assistants acting for a signed-in person. For a system talking to ours, use the partner API with an API key.
Where is the technical description?
Assistants discover the sign-in details automatically from /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server and /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource.
