About the Programme
Heart of the City is a charity that helps small businesses become more responsible and sustainable. Through this programme, they are working with Southwark Council to ensure local businesses can compete for contracts arising from S106 developments.
What is Covered
The programme offers practical support across several areas:
- Health & Safety — Guidance on meeting construction industry H&S requirements and obtaining necessary certifications.
- Insurance & Compliance — Help understanding and obtaining the right levels of insurance and compliance documentation.
- Tendering Skills — Workshops on how to write effective tender responses and present your business professionally.
- Financial Management — Support with cash flow management, invoicing, and financial planning for contract work.
- Networking — Introductions to developers, main contractors, and other businesses in the supply chain.
Who Can Apply
The programme is open to SMEs based in Southwark or employing Southwark residents. Priority is given to businesses that are new to working in construction supply chains or those looking to scale up their operations.
